Meet Walter Fick

Walter Fick is a Christian, who has devoted his career to protecting the Elko community and fighting for justice as a prosecutor.

Walter grew up moving around the country, before deciding to make Nevada his permanent home. He graduated with honors from Princeton University in 2013, where he focused his studies on counterinsurgency and military force structure issues. Walter then chose to attend UNLV’s Boyd School of Law, where he graduated with honors in 2016.

After law school, Walter initially worked in Ely for District Judges Steve Dobrescu and Gary Fairman, before working briefly in private practice in Las Vegas. Walter then jumped at the first opportunity to return to rural Nevada and join the Elko County District Attorney’s Office.

As a prosecutor, Walter has handled every type of case (from murder and sexual assaults to domestic batteries and DUIs) with skill, dedication, and success. He has earned a reputation as Elko’s toughest deputy district attorney. Walter also has the distinction of being the first local prosecutor anywhere in rural Nevada to obtain multiple racketeering convictions.

Outside of his day job, Walter also serves as President of the Elko County Public Attorneys’ Association, as a member of the Elko Rotary Club and Elko County Republican Central Committee, and as a men’s community group/Bible study leader at Living Stones Church.

Neither Walter nor his family own any businesses or have any financial interests that may be affected by the City Council. This means that Walter will bring the same independence and integrity he has shown as a prosecutor to his service as a City Councilman.
